The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce

it has presented its annual Joseph L. Argenzio Award to Woody Van Valkenburgh, President/CEO of Rappahannock Goodwill Industries. The award honors an outstanding volunteer who went above and beyond the call of duty in service to the Chamber and/or its affiliates in the previous year. It is named for the late Mr. Joe Argenzio, the youngest infantryman to hit Omaha Beach on D-Day.
Chamber President Susan Spears praised Mr. Van Valkenburgh’s steadfast volunteer commitment to the Chamber during a difficult economic climate as well as its recent leadership transition. She described him as epitomizing the best aspects of a Servant Leader who gives priority to the needs of his colleagues and those he serves.
Mr. Van Valkenburgh is president and CEO of Rappahannock Goodwill Industries. He served as chairman of the Chamber’s board of directors for 2009-10. He continues to serve on the Chamber’s board of directors, as well as its finance, executive, and strategic planning committees. He holds positions with a number of other organizations, including treasurer for the disAbility Resources Center and treasurer of Mid-Atlantic Goodwill Industries Consortium, a regional association of 15 Goodwills. He is also a citizen member of the Virginia General Assembly’s Disability Commission, which identifies and recommends legislative priorities and policies for services and funding for Virginians with physical and sensory disabilities.
