New Goodwill Store has record day at Grand Opening

09/28/2005

(Fredericksburg, VA) – Rappahannock Goodwill Industries opened their newest retail store this past Saturday in the Doc Stone Commons shopping center. The store was relocated to 72 Doc Stone Center from the old location in Aquia Towne Center in north Stafford County.
“Our Grand Opening was a tremendous success,” said Kerry Ebbert, Goodwill’s vice president of retail operations. “We had 416 purchases throughout the day totaling over $9,045.00. That’s about a 50% increase compared to our most recent Grand Opening in 2004,” Ebbert said.

The Doc Stone Goodwill store has a new Job Help Center adjacent to it now serving north Stafford residents with assistance in finding work. “We were delighted with the number of people who stopped by for a tour of our new Job Help Center on Saturday,” said Fred Prostko, vice president of human resource development for Rappahannock Goodwill Industries. “Everyone who visited the center seemed to be very impressed with our new training facilities and the job resources we will be providing to area residents,” Prostko added.

The Job Help Center will expand Goodwill’s mission in north Stafford by providing job assistance to local residents to include basic computer skills, interviewing skills, resume and cover letter preparation, and referrals to outside agencies.

The Grand Opening event provided everyone who attended a delicious barbecue lunch compliments of Tren Construction and Giant Food Store. Kids were excited to see JC the Clown and have their face painted. 95.9 and Thunder 104.5 radio was there providing great prizes and a live remote from 9:00am-12:00pm.
