King George Social Services Director David Coman Joins RGI Board

09/30/2005

(Fredericksburg, VA) – David Coman, Director of the King George County Department of Social Services, is the newest member of the board of directors for Rappahannock Goodwill Industries.
Coman, 54, joined the 12-member board this month for a three-year term. He brings with him a unique understanding – Coman has a disability that restricts his mobility, and the department he leads is a consumer of Rappahannock Goodwill’s services.

“As Director of Social Services my focus is on the elderly and disabled as well as improving the lives of the people in our community,” he says. “The people I deal with on a daily basis have lots and lots of challenges. Goodwill provides a wonderful service and helps to confront those challenges.”

Coman has been with the King George Department of Social Services since 1995. He and his wife, Jayne, have three adult children. His undergraduate and graduate work are in psychology.

Rappahannock Goodwill Industries is a private not-for-profit organization that serves the city of Fredericksburg and a 12-county region. It provides work opportunities and job training to people with barriers to employment, particularly those with disabilities. Its operations include a commercial laundry, off-site custodial and administrative services, a packaging and assembly plant and five retail stores and donation centers.
