Harrison Center Donation Center Opens

03/12/2010

(Fredericksburg, VA) Rappahannock Goodwill is continuing to make it easier for people to donate their gently used clothing and household items. The latest Donation Center to open is near Giant at Harrison Crossing Shopping Center in Spotsylvania. This is the third donation center to open in Spotsylvania in less than a year.

The new donation center is a truck trailer with the blue Goodwill logo and clearly marked, “Donations Accepted Here”. Ted Smith, vice president of donated goods for Rappahannock Goodwill, says this new site will make it more convenient for people to donate. “Shopping Centers like Harrison Crossing get a lot of traffic. Regular shoppers will now be able to donate in the same trip they are doing their grocery shopping or running other errands”. Each donation center has a Goodwill employee on hand to collect donated goods and provide a receipt. “It’s all about convenience and making it easier for people to donate”, says Smith.

The Harrison Crossing location joins a growing network of existing donation sites. All eight Goodwill stores accept donations, and there are unattended donation sites at the Goodwill offices on Princess Anne Street in downtown Fredericksburg, as well as at the recycling center near the Goodwill store in Tappahannock. There are also unattended donation centers at the regional landfill on Eskimo Hill Road in Stafford County, and at the Belman Recycling Center in Fredericksburg.

Attended Donation Centers are located at Town and Country Marketplace in south Stafford, Lake of the Woods, Salem Fields, Shelton Shop Road, and Route 3 at the Chancellor Center. Additional sites are planned in 2010 for Route One in North Stafford, and Courthouse Road in Spotsylvania.
