05/20/2008

(Fredericksburg, VA) – Rappahannock Goodwill Industries’ service region is made up of the City of Fredericksburg, and 12-local counties including Caroline, Culpeper, Essex, Louisa, King George, Northumberland, Orange, Rappahannock, Richmond, Spotsylvania, Stafford and Westmoreland. Rappahannock Goodwill’s 15-member volunteer Board of Directors meet bi-monthly in its role as the corporation’s oversight body.
On May 27th, the Board will be holding its third meeting of the year in the Essex County Public Library in Tappahannock. “Our Board decided a couple of months ago to begin holding some of our meetings in parts of our service region beyond the headquarters location of Fredericksburg,” said Eldon James, Goodwill’s chairman of the board. “Linda Lumpkin serves on our Board and represents the Essex County and Tappahannock area and we really appreciate her hosting us for the May meeting,” James added. Goodwill plans to hold more meetings in the future in other areas in its service region.

Last year alone, about 950,000 across the country people benefited from Goodwill’s employment programs, including 2,068 in the Rappahannock region. Thanks to the support of our donors, shoppers, and businesses, Goodwill Industries International places someone in a job approximately every 57 seconds of every business day.
