Girl Scouts Prepare for Goodwill to Others Drive

11/02/2007

(Fredericksburg, VA) – Rappahannock Goodwill Industries in partnership with the Girl Scout Commonwealth Council and local Departments of Social Services will be celebrating the 15th Annual Goodwill to Others Community Drive on November 3, 2007. The annual event kicks-off this Sunday, October 14 at the Goodwill Retail Store on 2336 Plank Road/Route 3 in Fredericksburg and the Goodwill Store at 72 Doc Stone Road/Route 610 from 2:00-4:00pm. “Girls will come to our Goodwill Stores for a tour of our retail operation on Sunday, participate in some crafts, and enjoy some great pizza compliments of Vocelli’s Pizza,” said Kerry Ebbert, Goodwill’s vice president of retail operations.
Local Girl Scout troops in the City of Fredericksburg, Caroline County, King George County, Stafford County, Culpeper County and Spotsylvania County will begin distributing Goodwill to Others collection bags on the doors of area residents beginning Sunday, October 14. “The bags are filled with donated items from area residents over a three week period and collected and brought to our donation sites on Saturday, November 3,” said Ebbert. “The donated goods are then weighed. For every 300 pounds of goods collected, Goodwill will give a $50 voucher to the local Departments of Social Services to be distributed to needy families in the region,” Ebbert added.

All donations that come into Goodwill Stores on Saturday, November 3 will count towards the Girl Scouts’ Community Drive. The donation sites for the service area are Goodwill Retail Store, 2336 Plank Road, Fredericksburg; Dahlgren Elementary School, 193 Sampson Road, and King George High School, 8246 Dahlgren Road, King George; Goodwill Retail Store, 504 Culpeper Town Square, Culpeper; Goodwill Retail Store, 72 Doc Stone Road, and Goodwill Retail Store, 736 Warrenton Road, Stafford; YMCA, 212 Butler Road, Stafford; YMCA, 5700 Smith Station Road, Spotsylvania; Ladysmith Food Lion, 17501 Jefferson Davis Highway, and Rite Aid on 104 Broaddus Avenue, Bowling Green in Caroline County.
