Girl Scouts and Goodwill join forces for Community Drive

11/10/2005

(Fredericksburg, VA) – Rappahannock Goodwill Industries and local Culpeper area Girl Scout troops join forces for the 13th Annual Goodwill to Others Community Drive this Saturday, November 5th in Culpeper. Community members can get involved by donating to one of the local participating Girl Scout troops, or by taking their donations to the Goodwill Retail Store at 504 Culpeper Town Square between 9:00am and 4:00pm.
“Our Culpeper Goodwill Store will be open until 7:00pm this Saturday and all donations made at our store that day will count towards the local Girl Scouts community drive,” said Frances Edwards, Goodwill’s store manager for the Culpeper store. “We encourage everyone to clean out their closets and donate any clean, gently used clothing or household items to the community drive,” Edwards added.

All of the donated goods given to the local Girl Scout troops, or at the Culpeper Goodwill Store will be weighed. “For every 300 pounds of goods collected, Goodwill will give a $50 Goodwill voucher to our local Department of Human Services to be given to families in need in the Culpeper area throughout 2006,” Edwards said.

Rappahannock Goodwill Industries is a private not-for-profit organization that serves the city of Fredericksburg and a 12-county region. It provides work opportunities and job training to people with barriers to employment, particularly those with disabilities. Its operations include a commercial laundry, off-site custodial and administrative services, a packaging and assembly plant and five retail stores and donation centers.
