(Fredericksburg, VA) – Rappahannock Goodwill Industries and the Girl Scout Commonwealth Council of Virginia are joining forces for the 15th Annual Goodwill to Others Community Drive this Saturday, November 3rd throughout Fredericksburg, Caroline County, Culpeper County, King George County, Stafford County and Spotsylvania County. Community members can get involved by donating to one of the local participating Girl Scout troops, or by taking their donations to Goodwill Stores between 9:00am and 3:00pm on Saturday.
“All donations that come into Goodwill stores or our donation trailers this Saturday, November 3rd will count towards the Girl Scouts’ Community Drive,” said Mike West, vice president of marketing and development for Rappahannock Goodwill Industries. “The program works like this. For every 300 pounds of donated goods collected, Goodwill will give a $50 voucher to the local Department of Social Services to be distributed to families in need in the region and are redeemable at any Goodwill store in our region,” West added.
The donation sites for the service area are Goodwill Retail Store, 2336 Plank Road, Fredericksburg; Dahlgren Elementary School, 193 Sampson Road, and King George High School, 8246 Dahlgren Road, King George; Goodwill Retail Store, 504 Culpeper Town Square, Culpeper; Goodwill Retail Store, 72 Doc Stone Road, and Goodwill Retail Store, 736 Warrenton Road, Stafford; YMCA, 212 Butler Road, Stafford; YMCA, 5700 Smith Station Road, Spotsylvania; Courthouse Road Elementary School, Spotsylvania; Ladysmith Food Lion, 17501 Jefferson Davis Highway, and Rite Aid on 104 Broaddus Avenue, Bowling Green in Caroline County.
“This is a great community service project that our local Girl Scouts have been involved with for many years,” said Maryclaire Kozlow, field executive for the Girl Scout Commonwealth Council. “We are happy to be celebrating our 15th year of the Goodwill to Others drive and working with Goodwill to help needy families in our area,” Kozlow said.
Rappahannock Goodwill Industries is a private not-for-profit organization that serves the city of Fredericksburg and a 12-county region. It provides work opportunities and job training to people with barriers to employment, particularly those with disabilities. Its operations include a commercial laundry, off-site custodial and administrative services, a outsourcing and contract facility and five retail stores and donation centers.
