(Fredericksburg, VA) – Rappahannock Goodwill Industries and the Girl Scout Commonwealth Council of Virginia’s 13th Annual Goodwill to Others Community Drive was held on Saturday, November 5th throughout Fredericksburg, Caroline County, King George County, Stafford County, Culpeper County and Spotsylvania County.
This year’s community drive tally is now complete and the community donations set records for the annual drive. “We had over 125,651 pounds of donated clothes and household goods given through the Girl Scout community drive this year,” said Mike West, Goodwill’s vice president for marketing and development. “Goodwill will be able to give out over 419 $50 vouchers to the local Department of Social Services in our region,” West added.
For every 300 pounds of donated items collected by the Girl Scouts on November 5th, Goodwill gives a $50 voucher redeemable at any of the five Goodwill Retail Stores in the multi-county region for donated clothes or household items. “The Goodwill to Others Community Drive had a 25% increase over last year’s drive,” said West. “The Girls Scouts did a wonderful job with this community service project and they should be extremely proud of their efforts this year.”
