(Fredericksburg, VA) – Rappahannock Goodwill Industries in partnership with the Girl Scout Commonwealth Council will be celebrating the 13th Annual Goodwill to Others Community Drive which kicks-off on Saturday, October 15 at the Goodwill Retail Store on 2336 Plank Road/Route 3 in Fredericksburg from 11:00am-1:00pm.
Local Girl Scout troops in Fredericksburg, Caroline County, King George County, Stafford County and Spotsylvania County will begin distributing Goodwill to Others collection bags on the doors of area residents beginning Saturday, October 15. “The bags are to be filled with donated items from area residents over the next three weeks and collected and brought to our donation sites on Saturday, November 5,” said Mike West, vice president of marketing and development for Rappahannock Goodwill. The donated goods will then be given to Goodwill and weighed. For every 300 pounds of goods collected, Goodwill will give a $50 voucher to the local Department of Human Services to be distributed to needy families in the area,” West added.
All donations that come into Goodwill on Saturday, November 5 will count towards the Girl Scouts’ Community Drive. The donation sites for the service area are Goodwill Retail Store, 2336 Plank Road, Fredericksburg; Dahlgren Naval Base, 17320 Dahlgren Road, King George; King George Middle School, 8562 Dahlgren Road; Stafford Elementary School, 349 Courthouse Road, Stafford; Goodwill Retail Store, 72 Doc Stone Road, north Stafford; The Shops at Ladysmith, Jefferson Davis Highway, Caroline County; Rite Aid Store, 104 Broaddus Avenue, Bowling Green; Courthouse Road Elementary School, 9911 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania; Rappahannock YMCA, (Spotsylvania Branch) 5700 Smith Station Road, Spotsylvania.
“This is a great community service project that our local Girl Scouts have been involved with for thirteen years,” said Maryclaire Kozlow, field executive for the Girl Scout Commonwealth Council. “We are happy to be working with Goodwill to help needy families in our area,” Kozlow said.
Rappahannock Goodwill Industries is a private not-for-profit organization that serves the city of Fredericksburg and a 12-county region. It provides work opportunities and job training to people with barriers to employment, particularly those with disabilities. Its operations include a commercial laundry, off-site custodial and administrative services, a packaging and assembly plant and five retail stores and donation centers.
