(Fredericksburg, VA) – Rappahannock Goodwill Industries’ commercial laundry operation earned a near-perfect score during an inspection last month and has won a three-year accreditation from the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council.
The recognition means that Goodwill’s laundry operation meets the federal and industry standards for excellence in processing healthcare textiles. “It should help Goodwill compete for new laundry contracts in the healthcare industry,” says Woody Van Valkenburgh, Goodwill’s president and CEO.
Goodwill’s laundry operation is located at 480 Central Road in the Battlefield Industrial Park. It handles more than 3.5 million pounds of laundry per year. About two thirds of its employees are people with severe disabilities.
Rappahannock Goodwill Industries is a private not-for-profit organization that serves the city of Fredericksburg and a 12-county region. It provides work opportunities and job training to people with barriers to employment, particularly those with disabilities. Its operations include two job help centers, a commercial laundry, off-site custodial and administrative services, an outsourcing and contract facility and five retail stores and donation centers.
