(Fredericksburg, VA) – Rappahannock Goodwill Industries in partnership with the Girl Scout Commonwealth Council will be celebrating the 15th Annual Goodwill to Others Community Drive in Caroline County on November 3, 2007. The annual event kicks-off on Sunday, October 14 at the Goodwill Retail Store on 2336 Plank Road/Route 3 in Fredericksburg from 2:00-4:00pm.
Local Girl Scout troops in Caroline County and in Fredericksburg, King George County, Stafford County, Culpeper County and Spotsylvania County will begin distributing Goodwill to Others collection bags on the doors of area residents beginning Sunday, October 14. “The bags are to be filled with donated items from area residents over a three week period and collected and brought to our donation sites on Saturday, November 3,” said Mike West, vice president of marketing and development for Rappahannock Goodwill. “The donated goods will then be given to Goodwill and weighed. For every 300 pounds of goods collected, Goodwill will give a $50 voucher to the local Departments of Social Services to be distributed to needy families in the region,” West added.
All donations that come into Goodwill Stores on Saturday, November 3 will count towards the Girl Scouts’ Community Drive. The donation sites for the Caroline County service area are The Shops at Ladysmith, 17501 Jefferson Davis Highway, and Rite Aid on 104 Broaddus Avenue, Bowling Green.
“This is a great community service project that our Caroline County Girl Scouts have been involved with for years,” said Maryclaire Kozlow, field executive for the Girl Scout Commonwealth Council. “We are happy to be celebrating our 15th year of the Goodwill to Others drive and working with Goodwill to help needy families in our area,” Kozlow said.
