(Fredericksburg, VA) People who would like to make a donation of gently used clothing or household goods to Rappahannock Goodwill are going to find it easier than ever to do so. New Donation Centers are opening this spring throughout the area including south Stafford and Spotsylvania.
The south Stafford Donation Center is now open and located at the Town and Country Marketplace off Route 218. This is the first stand-alone Donation Center to be located within a shopping center. Currently, Donation Centers that are not part of a Goodwill Store are trailers located in shopping center parking lots. Ted Smith, vice president of donated goods for Rappahannock Goodwill, says the new Town and Country donation center is made possible due to a generous contribution from The Schooler Companies. The new site, located next to Giant Food, will make it much easier for those in the Ferry Farm and White Oak areas to donate.
All of the donation centers have a Goodwill employee on hand to collect donated goods and provide a receipt. "It makes it more convenient for the customer to make a donation; that’s what these centers are all about," Smith says. At the new Town and Country Marketplace location, those that want to donate simply pull up along the curb and a Goodwill employee will help to unload the donated items.
The new attended donation centers join the existing network of donation sites that Goodwill already operates. All eight Goodwill stores accept donations, and there are unattended donation sites at the Goodwill offices on Princess Anne Street in downtown Fredericksburg, as well as at the recycling center near the Goodwill store in Tappahannock. There are also unattended donation centers at the regional landfill on Eskimo Hill Road in Stafford County, and at the Belman Recycling Center in Fredericksburg.
Attended Donation Centers are located at Lake of the Woods, Salem Fields, Shelton Shop Road, and Route 3 at the former Ukrops. Additional sites are planned for Route 3 West, Route One in North Stafford, and Courthouse Road in Spotsylvania.
