About Goodwill

Who We Serve

Serving the Community

Rappahannock Goodwill Industries provides direct employment to well over 400 people - including workers in assembly, laundry, retail, custodial and other services, most of whom have disabilities or other barriers to employment. Of that number, 38 are full-time staff members who provide management, sales, administration, and human resources support services. We are also proud that several of these employees are graduates of our vocational programs.

Over 250 people are directly employed by Goodwill in production/assembly, laundry, retail and custodial operations, and the remainder are part of our sponsored training and employment services.

The people in our community that we help include not only those with physical, mental and emotional disabilities, but also those  who face these other barriers to employment, such as poor work history, lack of work experience, low family income, illiteracy, homelessness, advanced age, past substance abuse or a criminal history.

In 2009, Goodwill served over 2,600 people in our community. With our Fredericksburg locations, Goodwill affords participants easy access by public transit (FRED), avails them of other community services within close walking distance, and meets one of the primary goals of Goodwill’s Board: to accomplish community integration of our participants.

We celebrate our successes but also constantly seek ways to both improve existing services, as well as to find new ways to support our community needs through "The Power of Work".
